How To Open Your Mind To New Ideas

This morning, I watched as my husband looked over some items on one of the shelves in my office.  He noticed a particular item and commented on it.  Then I said to him, “Do you see Don Quixote there with one of his arms missing?  But, that doesn’t matter to him. How often have you used a technology skill to perform a certain task over and over again until you can do it in your sleep when suddenly that same skill became completely and totally obsolete for that same task? Or, have you driven down your street and asked yourself “Where did that building come from, it was not there yesterday?

When Was the Last Time You Called Your Auntie Sue?

Did I hear some of you saying, “What is Barbara talking about? I have no Auntie Sue.” Well, okay. Neither do I. But this post is not about Auntie Sue or auntie anybody, really. This is more about giving and getting more out of life by enjoying those things most important to you. And giving and getting more out of your life may include that telephone call to your favorite aunt, uncle or anyone else whom you’ve been putting off because of all the other demands being placed on you and your time.

What would it mean to you to be able to connect with loved ones or friends whom you’ve not connected with for the longest time? How much joy would you get from such a connection? These questions, answers and more were explored in the topic of one of my recent seminars, “Finding Balance.” And they are also uncovered from time to time during my coaching sessions.
