How To Open Your Mind To New Ideas

This morning, I watched as my husband looked over some items on one of the shelves in my office.  He noticed a particular item and commented on it.  Then I said to him, “Do you see Don Quixote there with one of his arms missing?  But, that doesn’t matter to him. Don Quixote does not need two arms.  He can fight windmills with one single arm.”  We chuckled at that possibility.  My husband responded, “He probably doesn’t even need a windmill with his sort of imagination.”

Once you uncover evidence they are not serving you in an empowering way – a way that offers more choices for you, consider looking for new ways of doing things and new ways of thinking about things.

When Was the Last Time You Called Your Auntie Sue?

Did I hear some of you saying, “What is Barbara talking about? I have no Auntie Sue.” Well, okay. Neither do I. But this post is not about Auntie Sue or auntie anybody, really. This is more about giving and getting more out of life by enjoying those things most important to you. And giving and getting more out of your life may include that telephone call to your favorite aunt, uncle or anyone else whom you’ve been putting off because of all the other demands being placed on you and your time.

What would it mean to you to be able to connect with loved ones or friends whom you’ve not connected with for the longest time? How much joy would you get from such a connection? These questions, answers and more were explored in the topic of one of my recent seminars, “Finding Balance.” And they are also uncovered from time to time during my coaching sessions.

You Can Uncover Happiness In The Ordinary

There are times when the wheel of life seems anything but round.  That’s when things can get pretty bumpy.  Everything seems bumpity-bump, and up and down.  Some days there are more downs than ups, but don’t sit around waiting for things to change.  Rather, you can start uncovering your own happiness.

Some days you might need to make a bigger effort than others, but most of the time all you have to do is make subtle and simple changes.  Small changes can make a big difference in how your day turns out.
