5 Stress Busters for Busy Moms

These stress busters for busy moms are welcome relief.

Being a mother is one of the most challenging things you have ever done. It is also one of the most rewarding jobs of your life…and it can be stressful at times.

As a mom, you often forget to take care of yourself because you’re caught up in the busy stuff that is life.  Whether you’re a stay at home mom or you work outside the home, it really doesn’t matter.  The bottom line is the same… being a mother is stressful!

Luckily, there are some great strategies to help you deal with “mom stress.”  Here are some stress busters for busy moms.  Try one of two of them to help ease some of that unwanted tension that pops up every now and then.

Keep the kids on a schedule. The best thing every mother can do for herself is to get her kids on a schedule… and keep them on it.  Stick to a routine and you’ll feel more comfortable handling breakfasts, lunches, naps, and bed times.

Without a schedule, you will be disorganized and your stress levels will increase exponentially!  Things are always unpredictable when kids are involved. With even the simplest structure, your days will be a little more predictable…and you’ll save your sanity!

Put yourself in time out. Like most moms, you feel like you just have to keep pushing forward even when you’re about to come unglued.  We get stressed out and often need to take a breather, just like the kids!

Instead of continuing to push forward when you are about to snap…step back for a moment.  Breathe deeply for a few minutes.  That one minute or two in “time out” can make for good stress management and a great day for the whole family!

Eat healthy. There’s a tendency to just eat what you can, when you can.  Even when you are on the go, you need to make a conscious effort to eat well. When you eat nutritious foods, you are providing your body with the energy it needs to keep up with your kids and cope with the stress you encounter every day.

Create a support system. Team up with other moms.  Even if you can’t get together once a week, it’s still nice to know that you have someone who simply listens and empathizes… without judging.

All mothers feel the stress that comes with the job.  Make sure to surround yourself with other moms that are happy to listen when you need a shoulder to lean on.  Be sure to return the favor!

Make time for yourself. Sometimes we moms forget that we’re important too! That is why you need to make time for yourself every day.  Allocate “me time” just as you do other time.

Get help or sneak in some relaxation after the kids go to bed or before they get up.  Give yourself a manicure or pedicure.  Drink that cup of tea slowly while reading a book. Take a long bath, or get a massage…my favorites by far.

Relaxation time doesn’t have to be extravagant, but it needs to be there.  Even 15 minutes every day can make all the difference! Practice these stress busters for busy moms earnestly and often.
