Staying Positive and Reducing Stress in a Hectic World…

Are you like me…feeling that there are so many things to be done?  It seems as if they are all vying for my attention immediately.  Keeping on top of everything, remaining calm and reducing stress under such pressures can sometimes be a daunting task.

This is my first article post of 2013. A busy lifestyle has pulled me in many different directions.  And, I’ve allowed things to get in the way of writing to you on this blog on a more consistent basis this year.  I must admit…keeping on top of everything has been a bit of a challenge.

Of course, there are many positives in relation to busy lifestyles.  The downside is that sometimes we try to cram too many things into one day.

Perhaps that sounds like you … and you are having trouble looking on the bright side.  This can result in stress getting the better of you.

How can you keep on top of things and keep stress under control?  Use these simple tips, you’ll find it a lot easier to stay positive and savor a stress-free life.

Deal with Stress…

Stress in your day-to-day life is nearly unavoidable. However, it’s the way you deal with the load that counts.  It is important that you do not allow pressure to build up… it could possibly result in greater issues in the long run.

Do what you can to reduce your stress levels in a healthy way.  Focus on relaxation and breathing methods. If you are more socially inclined, venting to your good friend or colleague can help you deal with stress.

When you are engaged in something that eases your tension, you can actually jump back into your faced paced life with a positive attitude.

Keep Up…

In a fast paced life, you can definitely take certain steps to slow your life down.  You can also work on being able to keep up!

Make a list of the areas where you’re having trouble balancing. Brainstorm actions that you can take to improve your ability to cope.

For example, if you struggle to complete your tasks at work, see what you can do to fix this challenge. Maybe you can do one of your projects more efficiently. Perhaps you can rearrange your schedule to take care of the more stressful tasks first, leaving the least stressful for the end of the day when you’re ready to unwind (that’s one of my favorites).

Schedule Downtime…

You might feel like you should always be doing something productive. However, slowing down and taking care of yourself is ultimately the most productive thing you can do for reducing stress.

I practice this one often…give yourself proper rest and permission to do whatever you want every now and then. You’ll be better able to focus greater efforts on the other things in your life that matter.  You should also allow yourself a portion of the day where you get to do something just for you.

Check Your Attitude…

Thinking positively is something you can choose to do regardless of your circumstances in life. A positive outlook allows you to enjoy all the craziness life dishes up. It prepares you for dealing with the stressful parts, also.. When negative thinking creeps up, just think about the things that are going right. You can also imagine how it will feel when things turn around for the better.

Remember…simply because the world we live in is hectic doesn’t mean that your life needs to be like that also.
